Yumeji, one of very popular artists and well known as a pioneer of
Graphic design here in Japan.

though the ages collaborating with Art Nouveau.

TAKEHISA Yumej
Takehisa Yumeji, a painter who came to symbolize the romantic spirit of the Taishō era,
is best known for his iconic bijin‑ga (portraits of beautiful women).
Yet his work extended far beyond fine art. He designed an extensive range of everyday items
such as chiyogami paper and illustrated envelopes, as well as magazine covers,
sheet‑music designs, and commercial graphics.
Yumeji’s style—an exquisite fusion of traditional Japanese woodblock techniques
inherited from Edo‑period ukiyo‑e and Western Art Nouveau aesthetics—continues
to captivate audiences across generations.
